Preliminary Drawings
The Preliminary Drawing Phase is the second phase of the plan development. At this time, any minor revisions from the Design Phase will be made to the drawings.
The Preliminary Drawing Phase gives you the chance to see the house plan before all of the technical information is added. You will be able to review your floor plans at a larger scale (1/4”=1’-0”). The Foundation Plan and Roof Plan are also included in this plan set. With Preliminary Drawings, you will also be able to view the sides and rear elevations of the home, and a larger Site Plan, drawn at a scale of 1”=20’.
Preliminary Drawings bring out some of the details of the plan that truly add the finishing touch to a great design. On Floor Plans, items such as cabinet layout, art niches and special details are more defined. The Elevation drawings provide a more defined sense of the exterior details of the home.
Preliminary drawings give the builder an idea of what materials and details will be used on the entire house. Structural aspects, such as roof structure, structural beams, and columns, will be shown on the drawings created in this phase. Based on these plans, the builder will be able to give you a rough estimate of the construction cost for your new home. Approved Preliminary Drawings are then turned into the Working Drawings.
